Established in 1977, the English Department is as old as the college itself.The department has been handling English language classes for B.A & B.Com offered by the college since the days of its inception. While imparting studies in English literature and language, the Department intends to give the students a broad cultural background which is essential for the students to become concerned and well-informed citizens and to enrich their personal lives.
The department has latest teaching aids and equipments such as Language Lab, Interactive Smart Board, and Internet Facility along with Over Head Projectors etc. to facilitate learning as well as teaching. The Department has the credit of organizing Seminars, Panel Discussions, Extension Lectures and other need based activities for the overall development of the students.
We seek to foster knowledge and a love of literature and of language in our students. To this end we will provide students in all emphasis areas with a coherent curricular framework and relevant, well-structured course choices. We will teach a variety of literary, analytical, pedagogical, and theoretical skills. We will teach students to speak, read, and write effectively. We will encourage students to think deeply and to reflect on what they have learned. We will encourage a love of learning and an appreciation for a liberal education.

The Department of Kannada established in the year 1977.It is recognized as a classical language by Central Government for its cultural heritage. It is our pride that there are 8 Jnanapeetha awardees in Kannada. The language Kannada has a great and vast history. The objective of our Kannada Language is to improve the writing and communication skills among the students and get the knowledge in Kannada. The main motto of the Kannada Department of our college is to train students to make use of the knowledge of the subject not only to make a career for them but also serve the society.
Since our college is in rural area it is more innovative to study about folk culture and literature. We involve the students in undertaking original research in Kannada language, literature, culture and innovative research studies. The students and staff of the Kannada Department have published many articles and research papers in proceedings and Journals.

Department of Economics was established in the year 1977.The Economics Department is one of the foremost departments in the college it has been catering to students of B.Com and BA Programmes. various disciplines by offering diverse combination of subjects in B.A Programme such as Economics, Political Science, Sociology (EPS), Economics, Kannada, History (EKH) with the broad objectives as upheld by the college.
The objective of the department is to provide awareness of economics, entrepreneurial and social conditions which will facilitate understanding of economic issues leading to policy making. Students are also initiated into research by providing guidance.

“History as a Science of Future”
History is a systematic effort record event of the past. It is a treasure house of Knowledge where constructive works done and mistakes committed in the past are written as per the norms prescribed in historical method. In total 5000 years of civilized history, thus,, serves as a torchlight to chose the appropriate path to life. Apart from stories on civilizations, the men of wisdom and their biographies are fact sheets to success. If Greek civilization was an answer to organizational skills, intellectual accomplishments and cultural advancements, the biography of Sir M. Vishwesharayya is role model worth imitating.
However, history as a science of shaping one’s future is hardly either taught or applied by both the teachers and the taught. Here it is appropriate to recollect Hegel, who remarked in his usual dialectical tone, ‘One thing we learn from history is we learn nothing from history.
The department with zealous and promising faculty has a working vision to explore the application side of history bridging man making that go to nation building.Let insights in history are our foresight.
To give wider exposure to facts and figures of the past and make the learner assimilate the essence of the same through multidisciplinary approach
