Activities of Youth Red Cross Unit of our College:

• Youth Red Cross Unit of our college has organized a Blood Donation Camp at our college on 05th March 2013, in association with Talluka Community Hospital Saundatti. Students, staff members and also citizen of Saundatti Shri. Shrishail Soglad donated their blood. Dr. M. B. Heggannavar Head of the Department of Political Science of our college gave a start to the camp through donating his blood first. Blood Bank Officer of Medical Education Institute Belagavi Dr. C. V. Hospeth, Medical Advisor Shri. Basavaj Hadpad, Taluka Medical Officer & E.N.T. Specialist Dr. P. B. Kulkarni were present in the camp. Principal Dr. S. C. Mathapati, YRC unit Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin and the staff members joined their hands for the success of the Blood Donation Camp.
• The Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati and Youth Red Cross Unit Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin attended “One Day Orientation Programme for Principals and YRCU Programme Officers” sponsored by Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch held at Rani Channamma University Belagavi on 16th March 2013.
• Youth Red Cross Unit of our college has organized HIV/AIDS Awareness & Prevention Programme on 07th March 2014. Medical Officer of A.R.T. Centre Saundatti Dr. Sachin was invited as Resource Person who spoke about HIV/AIDS with providing minute details of it. The programme was named as “Prevention is better than Cure”. Field expert Mr. Ismail Dharwadkar explained its causes and effects, statistical data through Power Point Presentation. Shri. Siddu Hallolli, manager BIRDS NGO Saundatti was present in the programme he supported the programme through involved students in questioning their doubts and getting them cleared by the experts. Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati presided over the programme. YRC Unit ProgrammeOfficer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin hosted the programme. Staff and students were present.
• On 21st March 2014 the YRC Unit of our college and Taluka Health Department jointly conducted an Essay Competition for students on the topic “The Role of Youth in Preventing Tuberculosis Disease.” A large number of students actively participated in it.
• The Youth Red Cross Unit of our college has arranged for Free Medical Checkup for students of our college in association with Taluka Health Centre Saundatti.
• On 25th March 2014 the YRC Unit of our college celebrated “World Tuberculosis Day” in association with Taluka TB Control Unit and an NGO Balaji Rural Women and Education Development Society. District TB Cintrol Unit Officer of Belagavi Dr. Shailaja Tammannavar inaugurated the programme. Field Expert Mr. R. S. Chitnis, Dr. Kavita H. V. spoke during the function. Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati presided over the programme. YRC Unit Programme Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin, Medical Officer Dr, Devaraj, Dr, Sachin, Dr, Vikas PAi, Balaji NGO president Shri. P. B. Baloji staff and students of our college were present in the programme. Students participated and won in essay competition were awarded with certificates and trophies. Students of our college Mahadevi Patravali, Shilpa Hanchinal and Fakkeerevva Madar bagged first, second and third prizes.
• YRC Unit of our college celebrated “International Women’s Day” in collaboration with the Ladies Association of our college on 8th March 2014. Dr. M. B. Heggannavar, Head of the Department of Political Science of our college presided over the function. I. A. S. probationary officer Mrs. Vanashri Hullannavar was present as the chief guest of the function. Ladies Association Chairperson Dr. Arundhati Badami, YRC Unit Programme Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin, staff and all the girl students were present.
• Youth Red Cross Unit of our college has conducted an Essay Competition on “The Role of Youths in Preventing HIV/AIDS” in association and sponsorship of the Red Ribbon Society on 07th January 2015.
• “A Free Eye Checkup Camp” for students, staff and parents was held by the YRC Unit of our college in collaboration with Vasan Eye Care of Dharwad on 08th January 2015. Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati presided over the programme. YRC Unit Programme Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin hosted the programme and carried over the camp. Mr. Rajendra, Field Expert Vasan Eye Care Dharwad conveyed a message about the importance of eyes, their role in our life, precautions and protection of eyes. Mr. Praveen and Mr. Kumar and their staff actively involved in Eye Screening. 258 students, staff members as well as parents had undergone for the eye checkup during this Eye Screening Camp.
• On 19th February 2015 an HIV/AIDS awareness programme was organized by the YRC Unit of our college. HIV/AIDS Preventing Programme Officer of Dharwad District Shri. S. V. Patil was invited as the Resource Person for the event. He provided detailed information regarding HIV/AIDS, its symptoms, stages, prevention, etc. Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati presided over the programme. YRC Unit Programme Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin hosted the event. Students and staff members were present.
• YRC Unit of our college celebrated “International Women’s Day” in collaboration with the Ladies Association and Women Empowerment Cell of our college on 09th March 2015. Dr. Maitreyini Gadigeppagoudar, Assistant Professor Department of Kannada, Rani Channamma University Belagavi was present as the chief guest of the function. Principal of our college Dr. S. C. Mathapati presided over the function. Chairperson Ladies Association and Women Empowerment Cell of our college Dr. Arundhati Badami, YRC Unit Programme Officer of our college Prof. M. M. Momin, staff and all the girl students were present.
• Along with the above mentioned events and programmes Youth Red Cross Unit of our college organizes, joints hand in organizing and celebrating events like Gandhi Jayanti, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, International Youths’ Day, Anti Drug Campaign, Legal Awareness programmes, Health Awareness Programmes, Women Empowerment Programmes and many more Social and Student Welfare programmes.
